This very rare set of Mid-Century Modernist art-pottery cups, crafted by the rather mysterious "WEG Gallery" of New York City, in the 1950s, is highly desired and almost impossible to find! ... Featuring an abstract motif, a classic "Atomic Age" design against soft-grey background, these cups --- (offered as a matching group of three) --- are in good condition and reveal the "WEG" insignia on their bases. ... •   The WEG Gallery was named for its founders, William Forauer and Elmer Gross, life partners and fellow artisans, whose ceramics studio was located in Mid-Century Greenwich Village
  •    A 1952 New York Times article described WEG's newly issued ceramics collection:
    • --- "A gray glaze marked with faint black lines constitutes the background for the delicate motifs that decorate the objects in the Weg ceramic group made by Elmer Gross and William Forauer."
      • This article indicated that the cups (offered above) are part of a martini-mixer set.
